Former Bachelor Ben Higgins has recently opened up about moving back home to Indiana amid a mental breakdown. However, the reality TV star is choosing to see the silver lining during difficult times.
Higgins shared a brief update on his Instagram on Thursday, July 8. In his caption, he wrote, “Taking some time to focus on captaining the pontoon. The lake may get wavy, the bends may be unknown, but trust me friends the most difficult times teach us the most. Let’s keep riding.”
Higgins’ fiancée, Jessica Clarke, showed her support for her partner in the comments of his post writing, “You’re a good captain.”
Earlier this week, Higgins opened up more about his breakdown and move back home on Trista Sutter’s Better Etc. podcast.
“I am back in Indiana right now because of a breakdown, again, in my life where I don’t know what’s happening,” Higgins said. “I don’t know what this next season of life looks like for me. I’m farther and farther removed from the show, and at the same time, I need to figure out what my life is going to look like and what my legacy is going to be.”
He also mentioned that he’s optimistic and excited about having a fresh start, despite the unknown factors that come with it.
“It’s also really hard,” He said. “I’m at a low place, I don’t see myself as this thriving figure right now. I’m kind of lamenting and separating myself from a lot of things that I held close.”
Luckily, Higgins has had solid support from fiancée Clarke, with who he sparked a romance after quitting The Bachelor Winter Games in 2018.
in 2019, Higgins told US Weekly that Clarke is a “very kind, pure, emphatic and supportive person in general.”
He gushed, “And she’s not only like that to me. I’m part of that, but she’s like that to everybody around her. She challenges me to be more empathetic, more loving, more caring, more kind as well. So I’m very happy.”
