Blake Lively isn’t one to make a stink without good reason. The actress is generally known for her light-hearted tweets and exchanges with her partner Ryan Reynolds. However, her tune is a bit different recently, as she takes on child exploitation.
The actress’s children James (six years), Inez (four years), and Betty (21 months) were snapped out with their father, Reynolds, by a tabloid that later published the photo. Lively slammed the photographers and the tabloid for “deceitful” practices. On her Instagram story last Friday, Lively said, “Please stop paying grown ass men to hide and hunt children. there are plenty of pictures you could’ve published without the kids. Please delete. C’mon. Get with the times.”
Now Lively is doubling down on her fight for the privacy of her children and other celebrity children like them, urging people to boycott publications that exploit children. “One simple thing people can do is stop following and block and publications or handles who publish kid’s pictures,” Lively stated in an Instagram comment. “Feel free to report them. Or send a dm sharing why you don’t follow them. But it’s a simple way of only aligning with publications who have morality. And so many do.”
Blake continues on to explain that if these publications are just trying to meet demand, and that people should do something to change the narrative. “All are trying to service an audience. So if that audience makes it clear they don’t want something -like photos of children obtained by men frightening and stalking them- the publication or account will do what the audience wants.”
Lively continues, “It’s the only way that so many have already stopped. Because the people demanded it. So thank you again for sharing. It’s f–king scary”
