Britney Spears celebrated a big win in her ongoing battle to end her conservatorship. During yesterday’s court hearing, a judge granted Spears permission to choose her own lawyer.
To celebrate the exciting news, Spears posted a video on Instagram of herself riding a horse and doing cartwheels.
She captioned the video, “Coming along, folks … coming along 🖕🏻!!!!! New with real representation today … I feel GRATITUDE and BLESSED !!!! Thank you to my fans who are supporting me … You have no idea what it means to me be supported by such awesome fans !!!! God bless you all !!!!! Pssss this is me celebrating by horseback riding and doing cartwheels today 🤸♂️🤷♀️🐎 !!!!”
Followers quickly took the comments section with supportive comments for the Grammy-winning artist. Ariana Grande commented, “YOU ARE SO VERY LOVED AND SUPPORTED.” Spears boyfriend Sam Asghari also commented, saying, “Internet is about to explode #freebritney.”
During the court hearing, Judge Brenda Penny approved Spears and Jodi Montgomery’s request for her to hire a lawyer of her choice after her longtime attorney Sam Ingham III announced his resignation earlier this month.
So who is going to represent Spears? The pop star was granted permission by the judge to hire Mathew Rosengart. According to The New York Times, Rosengart is a high-profile attorney that has represented several Hollywood A-Listers such as Sean Penn and Steven Spielberg.
Her mother Lynne Spears filed a petition asking the judge to allow her daughter to hire her own private counsel. In the filing obtained byE! News, Lynne wrote, “Clearly [Britney] needs private counsel to advise her as to her basic rights in this conservatorship.”
During the hearing, Spears revealed she would like to press charges against her father for conservatorship abuse.
In her testimony, Spears called her conservatorship “f—— cruelty” and alleged that she was living with severe limitations like not being able to drink coffee, saying, “If this is not abuse, I don’t know what is.”
