The “BTS Meal” will be the third celebrity collaboration McDonald’s has done following the success of their Travis Scott and J Balvin meals. It’s also scheduled to be the most widespread celebrity collaboration Mcdonald’s has ever done, announcing that in May and June almost 50 countries will have a location offering the meal.
The order is said to be inspired by the “superstar band’s signature order,” McDonald’s explained in their release on Monday. On the surface, it looks like a standard 10 piece chicken nugget with fries and a medium Coke, but the twist comes in the form of two dipping sauces: Sweet Chili and Cajun flavors inspired by the restaurant’s South Korean recipes that haven’t yet been available in the U.S.
The success of the first two promotions clearly paved the way for what is the largest addition to the McDonald’s celebrity line-up. The Travis Scott Bacon Quarter Pounder meal, in particular, blew up all over social media—especially TikTok—and set the foundation for future celebrity collaborations.
A foundation that McDonald’s has been building on with the J Balvin Meal, Super Bowl ads detailing a few celebrity orders, and now the biggest collaborative launch the fast-food chain has ever seen.
It’s really no surprise that BTS is set to be the largest celebrity collaboration yet since the group has a very dedicated following across multiple countries and continents. “BTS truly lights up the world stage, uniting people across the globe through their music,” said McDonald’s USA Chief Marketing Officer in a statement on Monday. “We’re excited to bring customers even closer to their beloved band in a way only McDonald’s can – through our delicious food.”
The “BTS Meal” is set to launch on May 26th in the U.S. in North America and a few other countries and will be available in nearly 50 countries soon after.
