Last spring, Chris Harrison announced that he would be stepping back from hosting The Bachelor after defending contestant Rachel Kirkconnell. E! News now confirms that Harrison will not be hosting season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise.
So who will take on hosting duties? According to Variety, the show is going to be hosted by a rotating cast of different guests. The first celebrity to be revealed is comedian and Bachelor fan, David Spade. Other celebrity co-hosts are still being considered. Unlike this season of The Bachelorette, which will be hosted by Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe, Bachelor in Paradise will not be hosted by show alums.
Spade often covers The Bachelor and Bachelorette on his Instagram account. In March, while on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the comedian talked about his love for the show.
“I like it all,” Spade said. “I just make fun of whatever’s in front of me.”
An insider told E! News that Harrison was disappointed by the choice ABC and Warner Bros. TV made and went on to explain, “He’s been having conversations with his team and the studio and was hoping to be able to come back. He hopes his return will happen in 2022.”
The source also revealed that Harrison has been using this time to focus on his family while living in Texas.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Harrison plans on returning to the series, it’s just not clear when that will be.
“I plan to be back and I want to be back. And I think this franchise can be an important beacon of change,” stated Harrison. “I know that change is felt, not just by me, but by many others. And we are excited and willing to do the work to show that progress.”
