Chris Harrison is opening up about his thoughts on trending topics in Bachelor Nation.
For the first time since his exit as host of the show, Harrison is addressing former Bachelor Matt James and Rachel Kirkconnell’s relationship.
According to People, Harrison said, “I wish everybody the best. I will say it’s been kind of nice to have, after 19 years, to have my Mondays back, including last night.”
Harrison came under scrutiny in February of 2021 after defending Kirkconnell’s controversial and racially insensitive past. He was asked not to host the After the Final Rose special in March.
After Kirkconnell and James announced that they were getting back together, Harrison said, “You know what, I’m happy for them and I wish them all the best. I hope they’re in love and I hope they do great.”
Harrison’s exit from the show was made official in June and it was announced that Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams would fill in as hosts for Katie Thurston’s journey on The Bachelorette.
Warner Horizon and ABC Entertainment released a statement about Harrison’s departure that said, “Chris Harrison is stepping aside as host of The Bachelor franchise. We are thankful for his many contributions over the past 20 years and wish him all the best on his new journey.”
After his exit, Harrison received a big settlement from the network. He thanked fans for their support on social media and said, “Love all of you too. Always have, always will!”
When asked whether he’s been tuning into Thurston’s season, he said, “I’ve been keeping up from afar, but I’m sure they’re doing great.”
