The latest season of Grey’s Anatomy wrapped last week with the season finale airing on Thursday, June 17. The conclusion of season 17 brought plenty of fan feedback with comments ranging from simply saying it wasn’t their favorite season to calling the season “dumpster fire trash.”
Ellen Pompeo took to Twitter the day after the finale to reply to the fan’s tweet.
“All good!” Pompeo said. “Seventeen seasons we can’t please everyone all the time.”

“It’s definitely not easy keeping it going and keeping it great,” she continued. “I get it…thanks for checking it out anyway… and thanks for your feedback it matters …sending you love.”
After the fan received negative comments for expressing her opinion, Pompeo defended her. “Why is someone saying they didn’t like something bad?” Pompeo said. “It’s literally been on for two decades!! Let her live… there is plenty of shit I don’t like…”
“Not to mention people are pretty much allowed to feel however they want after this really fucked up couple of years we have had, she added.
COVID-19 played a big role in season 17, and when asked about whether or not it will still be covered in season 18, Pompeo said “I honestly don’t know but I don’t think so it’s been a lot for everyone hopefully the worst is behind us.”
Pompeo also said season 18 likely won’t air until the end of September or early October.
Probably won’t be August more end of Sept or early October I think https://t.co/cZK0lALzg7— Ellen Pompeo (@EllenPompeo) June 19, 2021
