After two years together, Frankie Grande and now-fiancé Hale have decided to get engaged. Grande, 38, apparently popped the question surrounded by close family and friends on Tuesday evening, according to an exclusive report by PEOPLE.
Grande had told Leon they were going to be celebrating four years’ sobriety anniversary early, then surprised him with the question. Grande, a broadway star and activist, and Leon, an actor, met at a line-dancing bar in 2019 and shared one of their first dates at a VR venue in LA: Dreamscape.
“I randomly ended up going to this bar Oil Can Harry’s in the Valley and I saw Hale he was dancing on the stage,” Grande explained to PEOPLE soon after the pair’s relationship began. “He was performing for everybody. He loves to go to Oil Can Harry’s he knew all the dances, I was blown away.”
In a callback to this early date, Grande chose to host his proposal at Dreamscape, as well.
The broadway personality worked with Dreamscape to create a custom ending to the VR experience, which had virtual fireworks and read “Will You Marry Me?”
“It was such a perfect, beautiful moment,” Grande told PEOPLE. “Hale was completely surprised and we both started crying tears of joy. I have been working on proposing to him in virtual reality for over a year and it was ABSOLUTELY breathtaking for us both.”
Grande shared the news on his Instagram.
“He said YES! 😍 WE’RE ENGAGED! I am so happy my best friend said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me!”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
