This weekend, two of the biggest names in music tied the knot over the Holiday weekend.
Pop icon Gwen Stefani and Country Music Star Blake Shelton got married in Oklahoma over the fourth of July weekend in what Stefani calls a “dream” ceremony.
This comes eight months after the couple announced their engagement and nearly six years after their first romantic entanglement.
The two met while coaching on The Voice and started dating in 2015 after the two were going through their own divorces. Divorces that weren’t easy for either of them.
“In all of this craziness that happened, like unexpected horrible-ness, I found a friend that was going through literally the exact same thing as me, and that is just a miracle, you know?” Stefani explained to Lee Cowan.
About a year after they started dating, Shelton told Katie Cook from CMT, “It’s not something anybody could’ve seen coming, besides God I guess, because it doesn’t look like it would make sense. All I can tell you is that it does. It just makes the most perfect sense for us and where we’re at in our lives.”
Stefani confirmed the wedding via a July 5th Instagram post, sharing photos from the event and a caption stating “July 3rd 2021 dreams do come true !!!”
It’s no secret that Shelton and Stefani don’t seem to share a lot in common, with fans and fellow celebrities giving the couple grief. “What matters to me is just the human being that she in on the inside and Gwen has a way of looking at life in a way that I have never experienced with anybody,” Shelton told Gayle King. “She always says she doesn’t understand what I mean, but she has a way of looking at a person’s situation from every angle and she’s the most understanding, kind-hearted person I’ve ever met. I learn something from her everyday.”
