The upcoming sequel to the beloved sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, entitled How I Met Your Father, will star Hilary Duff, Hulu announced.
The show will seem familiar to fans of HIMYM. The new series tells the story of Sophie (Duff), a mother navigating life in the 21st century, giving her son the story of how she met his father.
How I Met Your Father will be run by This Is Us creators Issac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. They are teaming with the original creators of HIMYM, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who will fill the role of producers. The series received the green light from Hulu for 10 episode run.
In a video released on Instagram, Duff tells fans how she is ready to play the role of Sophie.
“I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters, and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie. As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby,” says Duff.
This is not the first time a sequel has been in the works. Originally, Aptaker and Berger were working on a sequel called How I Met Your Dad, and it was going to star Greta Gerwig and Meg Ryan. But with the success of This Is Us, the project was put on pause.
For now, fans will have to wait patiently for the sequel because a release date has not been announced.
