Jennifer Lopez is moving on from former MLB player Alex Rodriguez.
Just a month after a swirl of breakup rumors, the couple released a joint statement on April 15 announcing their split.
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other, and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have is to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support,” the statement read, according to People.
Many issues went unresolved in their relationship, and Lopez could no longer trust Rodriguez. The couple recently sought couples’ therapy and said that it was helpful for their relationship. However, they have been struggling for some time since the COVID-19 lockdown.
After two years of dating, the couple got engaged in the Bahamas in 2019. They had to postpone their wedding earlier this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The power couple owned several businesses and still share properties in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami.
Lopez and Rodriguez are sad for their kids, who have grown close together throughout their relationship. Lopez’s 13-year-old twins Max and Emme and Rodriguez’s daughters Ella and Natasha have become best friends.
Infidelity wasn’t the cause of the breakup, and Lopez is at peace with her decision to call it quits.
Lopez has been focusing on what makes her the happiest, which is her kids and her career.
The couple will try to remain friends, but for now, they will go their separate ways.
