Jill Zarin Talks Strategy to Fix the RHONYC franchise on Hollywood Raw

Jill Zarin shared her many thoughts on the current state of the Real Housewives of New York City on the Hollywood Raw Podcast with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn. She openly discussed her opinions on the show and cast’s shortcomings and what she believes would fix it. The former cast member also recalls her beginnings on the show along with the money that came with it.

Jill straightforwardly admits that the show isn’t what it used to be. With large age gaps between the women and a lack of family dynamics shown, the show has lost its zest. If Jill were in charge, she would’ve brought herself back years ago. She thinks fans would’ve loved to see her and Bethany Frankel rekindle their friendship on the show.

Jill pulls a lot of weight in the RHONYC circle. She details how heavily she assisted in casting the first season. Thanks to some convincing from Jill, Bethany Frankel and Luann de Lesseps joined.

The Housewives weren’t rolling in the big bucks the first season, however. Jill recalls being paid $7,500 for the entire season and $5,000 for the reunion. Compare that to the possible $2 million a cast member on a Real Housewife franchise could make today.

The former Housewife is open to going back on the show, but she would only return if the timing was right and if it made sense for her brand. She believes she could help turn the franchise around.

An alternative option she believes could help revive the show is simple–wipe the slate clean by starting fresh with new women in their 30s who have families. She thinks family involvement is crucial to the show.
