Jimmy Kimmel Cries While Speaking About Long-Time Friend Bob Saget

Jimmy Kimmel and Bob Saget were long-time friends, and after Saget’s passing on January 9th, Kimmel, 54, struggled to keep it together during a touching tribute about the “Full House” actor on his show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The talk show host began his January 10th show with a tear-filled monologue dedicated to the life of Saget.

“If you’ve read anything about Bob online last night, if you saw any of the many thoughts from people who knew him personally, a word that came up a lot was ‘the sweetest,'” Kimmel began. “Bob was the sweetest. He was the sweetest man, and the reason people wrote that is because it’s true. It’s the best word—if you had to pick one word to describe him, that was it—‘the sweetest.’”

The talk show host said that he remembered the many “wonderfully kind and supportive texts, emails, and calls” he had received from Saget throughout the years of their friendship.

“He always had a compliment,” Kimmel said. “He would write sometimes just to tell me he loved me, and I know he did that for many people. He had something funny to say about everything and nothing bad to say about anyone.”

Kimmel also said that Saget was a great friend during his son Billy’s, now 4, heart surgeries. “When my son was in the hospital, Bob checked in a lot,” he said. “I want to send love to his daughters, to his wife, Kelly, and to his friends who loved him so much.”
