Popstar Jojo Siwa is making history on Dancing with the Stars.
Siwa, who came out as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community at the beginning of this year, will be matched with a same-sex partner for the show’s 30th season.
ABC announced the news in a social media post with a video of Jojo Siwa sharing her excitement.
In the promo, Siwa said, “I am so excited to be a part of ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ Season 30, and to be dancing with a girl. I think it’s so cool.”
The female dancing partner will be announced during the show’s season premiere.
According to CNN Entertainment, Siwa said that she’s proud that her choice to dance with a female “breaks a wall that has never been broken down before.” She tells younger people you can “dance with who you want to dance with.”
After coming out in January, Siwa has chosen not to label herself specifically.
The Dance Moms alum told PEOPLE in April, “It’s like, I want to figure it out. I like ‘queer’. Technically, I would say that I am pansexual because that’s how I have always been my whole life … just like, my human is my human.”
Siwa is currently dating her girlfriend, Kylie Prew. The two have been together for seven months.
Although Siwa will be part of the first same-sex pairing in the United States, there have been previous contestants who have been trailblazers in other countries, including Ru Paul’s Drag Race season 6 alum, Courtney Act, in Dancing with the Stars Australia.
Olympic gymnast, Suni Lee, also joins Siwa for Dancing with the Stars with the rest of the cast being revealed on September 8. Season 30 premieres on September 20.
