One week after Britney Spears gave an emotional plea to remove her father Jamie Spears from her conservatorship, the motion was denied by Judge Brendy Penny.
The court order obtained by E! News stated, “The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California, N.A. as sole conservator of the estate is denied without prejudice.”
The Los Angeles High Court ruling was not a result of Spears’ heartbreaking testimony about the abuse she has faced as a result of the conservatorship. Instead, the court’s ruling was in response to a request made in November by her lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III, to add wealth management firm Bessemer Trust and remove her father.
During the star’s powerful testimony, she made claims that she is being mistreated by her father. Stating that Jamie Spears “loved the control to hurt his own daughter.”
Yesterday, Jamie asked his attorney to submit several petitions to the court. One asking to initiate an investigation into the claims his daughter made about being forced to perform and take medication against her will. In the petition, it was noted that for the last several years, Jamie has not managed any of her personal or medical affairs.
After Spears’ explosive testimony, her father’s attorney issued a statement stating that “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”
A source close to Spears revealed that her attorney is planning to file a petition to terminate the nearly 13-year conservatorship.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 14.
