On Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, Steve Cochran, ruled Kim Kardashian legally single from Kanye “Ye” West.
Kardashian appeared via video conference for a divorce hearing while West did not appear.
The couple who has been in a divorce battle for over a year had first requested to be declared single nearly three months ago.
Kardashian has made it clear that she wants to move on from her marriage of seven years. After obtaining divorce documents, CNN reported Kardashian said, “I very much desire to be divorced. I have asked Kanye to keep our divorce private, but he has not done so. Kanye has been putting a lot of misinformation regarding our private family matters and co-parenting on social media which has created emotional distress.”
In light of their separation, Kardashian has been dating SNL star Pete Davidson, while West has been seen with influencer Chaney Jones.
During the hearing the judge asked her several questions under oath, one of them being if she wished to revert to her maiden name. She responded “Yes”. Following more questions, she was told that she now has her single status back, in which the reality star smiled brightly.
Married for seven years, Kardashian and West have four children together. Kardashian stated “the Court terminating our marital status will help Kanye to accept that our marital relationship is over and to move forward on a better path which will assist us in peacefully co-parenting our children.”
