Laura Prepon feels at peace that she left the Church of Scientology.
An insider revealed to Us Weekly that the That 70’s Show actress “feels relieved to be living life on her own terms. She wants to focus on her own individual spirituality.”
In early August, Prepon said that she left the church about five years ago.
According to USA Today, Prepon said, “I’m no longer practicing Scientology. I’ve always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I’ve prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I’ve studied Chinese meridian theory. I haven’t practiced Scientology in close to five years and it’s no longer part of my life.”
The actress previously mentioned that the controversial religion helped with her emotions.
Prepon is now focusing on her family. She got married to actor Ben Foster in 2018. Together, the couple shares a daughter and son.
A source said, “She’s a mom now and she’s moved on, and she is building her life around that. Laura found her own spiritual path and no longer wants to be associated with the church.”
The Orange Is the New Black star has admitted that her husband never practiced Scientology.
She is one of the many high-profile celebrities to leave Scientology. In 2013, Leah Remini left the church after being involved with it for nearly 34 years.
Remini wrote a book about her time spent at the church called Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology. She also produced a series titled Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, which won an Emmy in 2020.
