Madonna has announced a new documentary from her Madame X concert tour. The film will be available for streaming on October 8 via Paramount+.
The documentary captures Madonna’s most recent concert tour from 2019, Madame X, where she played a secret agent persona. The tourwas intimate and theatrical, where she performed the hits as well as tracks from her 14th album.
In a statement, she said, “Sharing my vision with global audiences has been profoundly meaningful to me. The opportunity to bring its message and the incandescent artistry of all involved to an even wider audience comes at a time when music is so deeply needed to remind us of the sacred bond of our shared humanity.”
The documentary was filmed in Lisbon, Portugal which Madonna said the local culture is what inspired Madame X. She, along with her children — David Banda, Mercy James, and twins Estere and Stella moved to Lisbon in 2017 so David could play soccer there.
Directed by Ricardo Gomes from SKNX, Madame X features 48 on-stage performers including Madonna’s children, musicians and dancers from around the globe, and the all-female Orquestra Batukadeiras.
The pop icon teased the film on her Instagram earlier this week. She posted a trailer video with the caption, “Madame ❌ is finally ready to disturb the Peace.”
