A family feud is brewing!
Samantha Markle is reportedly suing her half-sister Meghan Markle for defamation over the tell-all interview she and Prince Harry gave Oprah Winfrey in 2021.
According to People, Samantha claimed in court documents that Meghan lied about her and her family during the interview by making false and malicious statements.
Samantha says that Meghan didn’t tell the truth about when they last saw each other, and also accuses her of falsely claiming to be an only child.
According to Page Six, the court filing revealed, “The defamatory implication is that Plaintiff had no relationship whatsoever with her sister Meghan, they were virtual strangers and that Plaintiff has created a lucrative career selling false stories to tabloids and television programs when she knows nothing about Defendant’s childhood.”
Samantha continued to accuse Meghan of bashing their father, Thomas Markle, in order to tell the world of a “rags-to-royalty” narrative about her life.
“Meghan falsely claimed that: (a) she essentially raised herself from virtual poverty [and] (b) she was forced from the age of 13 to work in a series of low-paying jobs to ‘make ends meet,” the complaint read.
Samantha also claims that Meghan published false statements in her New York Times best-selling book, Finding Freedom, which she says is “nothing more than a book of lies.”
Samantha is requesting over $75,000 to cover damages, along with court and attorney fees.
Meghan’s attorney, Michael Kump, said in a statement to TMZ, “This baseless and absurd lawsuit is just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior. We will give it the minimum attention necessary, which is all it deserves.”
