Popstar Meghan Trainor and husband Daryl Sabra welcomed their son, Riley, in February. Trainor has finally started sharing details about his scary birth.
In an interview withToday, the singer revealed that Riley faced breathing complications after birth.
“It was one of those horror stories where he didn’t cry,” Meghan said. “He didn’t make noise when he came out. I was like, ‘Why isn’t he crying?’ Then they told me he was having breathing issues. It was terrifying.”
Trainor was only able to see her baby for a second before Riley was taken to the NICU. There, he was placed on a feeding tube.
Not being able to see the baby right after birth was difficult for Meghan. “I got to see him for one second before they took him away. That was probably the worst part,” Meghan recalled. “It was definitely a rough start. But we’re so lucky we got to bring him home after five days.”
In an Instagram post, Meghan revealed that Riley arrived almost one week early.
“This sweet baby boy’s due date was today on Valentine’s Day💝 We got to meet him Monday, Feb 8th! We are SO IN LOVE🥰😭 Thank you @darylsabara for the best Valentine’s gift ever! Welcome to the world Riley!”
In the Spring, she shared a TikTok showing her baby in the NICU. She captioned the video, “We had a rocky start..but Riley is perfect, happy and healthy 💙 so lucky to be your mama sweet boy. “
Meghan tied the knot with Spy Kids alum Daryl Sabra in December of 2018. She announced her pregnancy in October, with a sweet message on Instagram along with a photo of the sonogram.
“You all know how long I’ve wanted this!!!!😭🥰 @darylsabara and I are so beyond happy and excited to meet this little cutie early next year! WE’RE PREGNANTTTTT!!! 🎁😍🥳
Now three months later, Riley is flourishing. “I’m biased, but he’s the smiliest, happiest baby,” Meghan said.
