Supermodel and actress Naomi Campbell announced on Instagram Tuesday morning that she’s welcomed her first child into the world. The post shows Campbell cradling the baby girl’s feet in her hands.
“A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother. So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love,” Campbell wrote in her announcement post.
Campbell, 50, has spoken extensively about her desire to become a mom, even before becoming pregnant with her daughter. In an interview with Vogue Arabia in 2018, Campbell said the following when asked if she wanted children:
“I’d love to have kids. I don’t discount anything in life. I love kids and always will,” she said at the time. “When I’m around children, I become a child myself. That’s the little girl I don’t ever want to lose.”
Before that, in 2017, the model spoke to Evening Standard magazine about her aspirations to be a parent, as well as her timeline for doing so.
“I think about having children all the time. But now, with the way science is, I think I can do it when I want.”
In the announcement post from Campbell, friends of the new mom gave their congratulations. One such friend was fashion designer Marc Jacobs, who said, “How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful Mother you will be. Blessings all around.”
