Olivia Rodrigo was chosen to perform at MTV’s Video Music Awards for the first time!
The award show is set to premiere at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. ET.
According to Variety, Rodrigo will perform with other top singers like Lil Nas X, Lorde, Machine Gun Kelly, and Camila Cabello.
Each of the artists chosen to perform have had their own success in the past year, despite how the coronavirus pandemic has changed the music industry.
Lil Nas X and Rodrigo have each received five VMA nominations this year, but they aren’t competing against each other in any categories.
Rodrigo’s nominations include artist of the year, song of the year, and best new artist.
She has done very few performances on television as a solo artist. During the award show, she will be performing her popular song “Good 4 U.”
Additional performers for the award show are going to be announced soon. Other top-nominated artists for the VMA’s include Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, and Billie Eilish.
According to Billboard, fans will be able to vote online for their favorite performers across 14 gender-neutral categories by heading to vma.mtv.com through Friday, Sept. 3. The vote for the best new artist award will still take place while the show is airing.
According to MTV, the show is set to honor the victims of 9/11 by working with the nonprofit 9/11 Day to promote awareness on the 20th anniversary of the attacks.
