The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is addressing the divorce between its star Erika Girardi and her husband Tom Girardi.
The hit Bravo series revealed on its June 9th episode that cast members received a text from Erika on the morning of the 2020 presidential election.
After 21 years of marriage, she disclosed that she’s filing for a divorce.
According to People, the text stated, “Ladies, I truly consider you my close friends and this is why I’m reaching out to tell you that I filed for divorce this morning. Thank you for supporting me. This will be tough.”
Kyle Richards and Lisa Rinna said they didn’t know about Girardi’s plans to get a divorce and were shocked by the revelation.
Rinna justified the announcement by stating, “It’s Erika, so whatever is going on, she had to do it like this. She couldn’t tell anybody.”
Girardi opened up about her decision to separate from Tom last November.
“This is not a step taken lightly or easily. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the lives we built together. It is my absolute wish to proceed through this process with respect and with the privacy that both Tom and I deserved. I request others give us that privacy as well,” said Girardi.
Since the divorce was announced, Tom Girardi has been involved in multiple lawsuits, including an embezzlement case with Erika.
Tom and Erika’s legal scandals will be the topic of an ABC News Originals documentary called The Housewife and the Hustler.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is airing on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
